Spoon Publishing wins at the Swedish Design Prizes.

Spoon Publishing was the evening’s big winner when Batteri Kommunikation gave out the Swedish Design Prizes Thursday night in Stockholm. All in all Spoon took home three awards. Two gold medals were awarded in Best Magazine categories, one with Mando Diao’s tour magazine “Infruset” (in Swedish), the other for Svenska Sjöräddningssällskapets member magazine Trossen. They also took home a silver medal in the Best Information – Web category for thier work with Axel Johnson, a project which was nominated in three categories.

The Swedish Design Prize is an annual competition in graphic design. Traditionally awards are given out to Swedish media agencies, publishers, magazines, web agencies, and graphic agencies, though Spoon was an unusual contendor in the competition – while many of the other winners were advertising agencies Spoon, a content agency, proved that content marketing deserves more than one seat at the winner’s table.

As to whether or not this is a long-term trend, Chief Creative Director Melker Forssén of Spoon had this to say:

“More and more companies are seeing the value of filling their own channels with relevant content that their customers want. This is a trend that is becoming clearer every day, so we are extra glad to receive these prizes now.”
